I’ve heard a lot of people saying that they just can’t find the motivation to work out and eat healthily. So, I decided to share how I keep myself motivated. Hopefully, this will help y’all start exercising and eating healthy!
This is definitely my biggest motivator in working out. I understand not everyone chooses to follow my religion or even any religion at all, but I find that it has really helped me a lot. The most motivating Bible verse I have found is 1 Corinthians 6:19; “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” Thinking of my body as a temple of God has motivated me to take better care of myself. I am not doing it for myself or for other people who probably could care less, but for God who cares so much for me that He sent His only son to die for me.
2. Not Caring About What Others Think!
I used to motivate myself by thinking about whoever I had a crush on at the time. I would think, “if I can get skinnier/stronger/curvier, then they will like me back!” This is NOT a good way to motivate yourself. If the person you like only wants you for how your body looks, then you probably don’t want that person anyways. Besides, crushes will come and go, and so will the motivation. You need something stable to motivate you.
3. Feeling Better
When you exercise, you prevent health issues and you feel much better. Try exercising regularly and eating healthy for one week. You will be amazed by how much more energetic and happier you feel! I have dealt with mental illnesses like anxiety, depression O.C.D, and anorexia for almost my entire life. Exercising and eating healthy food helps lessen my symptoms.
I find that doing super repetitive workouts can exacerbate some of these conditions, so try to change it up a little if possible. You could also try watching television or listening to music to distract yourself as well.
4. Doing it For People Who Cannot
Think about all the people who cannot exercise or eat healthily because of finances, disabilities, or illness. Be thankful if you can exercise and eat healthily and show your thankfulness by doing it!
5. Being Stronger
When you take care of your body, you become stronger. You soon find that you can do things that you never thought you could do. You will impress yourself often and this will motivate you to keep working hard.
In reality, there are hundreds of different ways to motivate yourself. I would try to avoid doing it for someone else or so you can look better. Usually, this motivation will burn out in the end. Happy healthing!
