New Year’s Intentions: A Guide & Examples

New Year’s Intentions

Every year, I try to set intentions for the New Year. I used to set resolutions but found them very pressuring. I have found that setting intentions for the year puts less pressure on me, allowing me to see what I want to accomplish without giving me unnecessary stress.

Last year, I accomplished 4 of the 5 intentions that I set. There is one intention that I have kept setting each year and have worked towards, only for it to not work out at the end of the year. This has been rather frustrating for me, but I trust that God will make everything work out at the right time.

I’m choosing not to share my intentions from last year as some of them are personal enough that they may reveal my true identity (which I would like to keep private). However, I will be sharing a couple of my intentions for 2020 in this post! I hope they can inspire you to set some intentions for the new year.

  • Grow spiritually

I set this intention every year and I believe that I accomplish this every year. Faith is the most important thing in the world to me, so growing spiritually every year is necessary for me.

  • Grow my blog!

I have loved blogging this year, even though I’m not doing as well as I hoped. I will work towards growing my blog this year, so that I may be able to focus on it as a career in the future.

  • Visit Hawai’i

I have been nearly everywhere in the U.S. + a couple places outside the U.S., but I have never visited Hawai’i! My family has planned several trips to Hawai’i, but every time we have been forced to cancel them at the last minute.

  • Finish at least 5 books

Every year, I read the entire Bible and an entire devotional book, but I seem to neglect reading a lot of other books. This year, I would like to finish at least 5 other books. I hope to finish many more than that (I usually finish no less than 20), but I thought this would be a good starting point for me.

I hope these few intentions inspired you to set your own New Year’s Intentions. Thanks for reading!
